The Watauga River tailwater begins just below Wilbur Dam, in Elizabethton, TN. The stream is well known for its trophy rainbow and brown trout fishing. The upper section offers some public access, for wading. However, most of the trophy section is only accessible by boat. Within its 16 miles of fishable trout water, the Watauga River has one of the only stretches of water designated as a trophy section in the state of Tennessee. The trophy section is subject to special regulations which are strictly enforced by region four of the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency. Use our links page to purchase the necessary fishing license and trout stamp online, before planning for any Watauga River Trout fishing. |

The South Holston River begins below South Holston Dam, near Bluff City, TN. As a nationally recognized trout fishery, the South Holston River has become very popular. This stream is yet another quality fishery, which produces several trophy trout each year. Our area of East Tennessee also offers great small stream fishing. Native brook trout, brown trout and rainbow trout can be found in many of our local creeks. Stoney Creek, the Doe River, Laurel Fork Creek, and Beaverdam Creek are just a few of the small streams in the vicinity, which produce trout. Not only is East Tennessee Fly Fishing one of the most experienced guide services in the area, we also offer shuttle services for those interested in solo South Holston and Watauga River trout fishing. So give ETFF a call and let us do the driving while you do the trout fishing!
